Why Did Rihanna Slam A UK Journalist For Being ‘Tacky’?

Rihanna may seem like a super fun friend to hang out with, and judging from her Instagram photos and Twitter posts, the girl sure knows how to party and enjoy her free time! But when it boils down to getting work done, there’s no bones about it: she’s quite serious about her job. Part of RiRi‘s job as a world-reknowned singer and actress is to talk to the press at press conferences and give one-on-one sit down interviews. The 23-year-old entertainer is so serious about her job, that if the conversation strays too far from her project and heads into too personal territory, she’s not afraid to bluntly address her discomfort. (Remember the reporter she put on blast at the Battleship press conference?)

During an interview with Esquire UK, the journalist kept pressing Rihanna about the controversy surrounding her remix collaborations with none other than her abusive ex Chris Brown – and RiRi was NOT having it!

“Some people felt it sent the wrong message … You’d gone back to someone who put you in the hospital,” the reporter said.

“Oh really? Did I?” RiRi responded. “Did I? Did I? Did I? … Okay. In a completely professional environment. And on a complete professional note. I mean, if I went back to him [as a girlfriend], then that’s a whole different discussion … I think a lot of people jumped to an assumption that was incorrect and they ended up looking stupid.”

While the conversation about that topic was meant to end there, the interviewer wouldn’t let go of the topic, further pressing the singer how it was hard for the public to separate her professional decisions from her personal life (read: more Chris Brown questions).

“This is turning into a tacky interview,” Rihanna quipped. “What do you really want to talk about? I’m not here to [talk] about messy s**t … It upsets me that you keep asking the same kind of questions about stuff that’s trivial. What’s there to talk about? Are all your questions like that?”

Awkward.
