Guns N’ Roses Covers War: Simple Plan V Taken By Trees

The last Guns N’ Roses cover to make a serious impact was Taken By Trees oh-so-indie folk interpretation of ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’. Now Simple Plan have tackled the same track during a sound check, but whose version is better? Do either covers beat the original?

Simple Plan

During a recent sound check in Bilboa, Spain, French-Canadian pop-punkers Simple Plan dared to cover GnR. However this moment wasn’t exclusive to the band and sound technicians as some fans were lucky enough to watch the practice. Thankfully, one fan filmed the song so you can watch the video below too.

Taken By Trees

First picked up by John Lewis for their Christmas TV campaign in 2009 (yes, it really was that long ago), Taken By Trees re-invented ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ as a slow indie female-led song. If you’ve somehow missed this cover, expect to hear Guns N’ Roses as you’ve never heard their music before.

Who sung it better for you?
