Bands To Buzz About: Summer 2012

Summer will be here before we know it! It seriously already feels like it here in NYC. If you’re looking for new music to fill up your iPod I have a few suggestions you should consider checking out!

1. Garbage

Ok I know I talk about them a lot but my enthusiasm for this band is never ending. They are currently touring this summer in support of their 5th album, Not Your Kind Of People. I saw them live for the first time last week and I’m STILL trying to recover from the shock of me being there. It was absolutely unreal.

2. Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey released her debut album, Born To Die, this past January and will be performing in select cities this summer. Go here for tour dates.

3. Gentlemen Hall

This band is gold! They’ll be playing a few summer music festivals! Go here for dates.

4. Honor Society

Speaking of gentlemen, whenever I think of Honor Society, I tend to breathe a sigh of relief. They’re just really refreshing in a world of dishonesty. Tour plans are in the works so keep an eye out for all the deets! 🙂

5. Weird Sonix

Ok I just HAD to! Sooo…I hear these dudes are friends of Honor Society. 😉 Wanna laugh? Check out “Bone My Wife (I Gotta)” on iTunes. Why isn’t this song $.69? Just sayin… 😀

6. The Royalty

I just bought their album, Lovers, and I can tell it’s going to be in heavy rotation this summer!

7. Walk The Moon

There’s a lot of exciting things happening this summer for Walk The Moon! They’ll be touring and promoting their self-titled album due out June 19th! They’ll also be appearing on select dates of the Nylon Summer Music Tour!

8. Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom just released their 2nd album, The Looking Away. They’ll be playing Lollapalooza this August! Go here for more info on the band.

9. Neon Trees

Neon Trees just released their second album, Picture Show, last month and they’ll be headlining the Nylon Summer Music Tour! Congratulations to drummer, Elaine Bradley on her bun in the oven! Hahaha. Touring while pregnant; what a warrior! 🙂

10. States

States are touring this summer with The Rocket Summer and The Scene Aesthetic. They’ll also be re-releasing their debut album, Room To Run, on June 19 with 7 bonus tracks! For tour dates go here.

11. Owl City

Adam Young has a busy summer ahead. Besides being adorable, (major crush over here) he’ll be releasing Owl City’s 3rd album, The Midsummer Station, out August 14th, along with a tour with Demi Lovato and Hot Chelle Rae! Check out Owl City‘s Shooting Star EP which features 4 songs from the upcoming album!

12. Magic Wands

Magic Wands just released their debut album, Aloha Moon. It’s quite infectious. Please blast this at the beach. You’d be crazy not to.

13. One Night Only

These boys filmed their “Say You Don’t Want It” music video in my neighborhood with Emma Watson. Sadly, not much of their music is available here in the US but we have our ways, right? 😉 Fortunately their current single, “Long Time Comingis available here on iTunes!

14. All Hail The Silence

All Hail The Silence is comprised of electronic/trance gods, BT and Christian Burns. Their debut album is due out pretty soon! Check them out here.

15. Christian Burns

Christian Burns has done many vocals for a lot of today’s hottest dance tracks. You might remember him from British pop band BBMak. He’s currently working on his solo album. His first single, “Bullet“, will be released on June 25th.

There you have it! Enjoy/comment/buzz! Who will you be listening to this summer?
