Backstage Buzz At American Idol: Coldplay’s Performance Falls Flat

First Katy Perry, now Coldplay. It was another disappointing performance for the American Idol audience. It was supposed to be a star-studded night of power house performances from Coldplay and Idol-turned-mega-country-star Carrie Underwood, but it didn’t exactly go the way people thought it would.

Carrie brought the house down in a breathtaking flowy white gown, belting out her new single “Blown Away.” However, it seemed to be no surprise that Coldplay’s two song set was pretaped! Ugh! LIke Katy Perry a couple weeks ago, the audience booed and hollered at the audience fluffer to give them free Coldplay tickets. It was also pretty lame to see a staged shot of Ryan Seacrest cutting to commercial with confetti floating around him, as if a live performance has just ended. DUH.

Disappointment aside, we did get a chance to catch up with Carrie, who spilled on what it was like to be back on the Idol stage.

“It’s really nice that they let me come back,” she laughed. “I mean it’s such an amazing show and for me to actually be a part of it is very cool and very special to me.”

No doubt she was disappointed that country cutie contestant Skylar Laine was cut from the competition.

“I loved seeing Skylar up there representing country music,” she spilled. “It’s sad to see her not on the show anymore. I just have no idea who will end up as the winner. They really occupy their own genres and music which is really cool.”

Are you sad to see Skylar go home? Who do you think will be the next American Idol?
