Jack White Reveals He Would Make Another White Stripes Album

When I heard The White Stripes were finished last year I was a heartbroken; never had the opportunity to see them live. For long time fans, there had always been a lot of speculation surrounding Jack and Meg White’s relationship; and when things came to a halt, just about everyone jumped to Meg as the main cause of the breakup. Turns out, we were not too far off base.

Jack White sat down with The New York Times this month and discussed the band’s break-up and what lead to the end of the groundbreaking duo.

“I don’t know what her reasons are. Having a conversation with Meg, you don’t really get any answers. I’m lucky that girl even got onstage, so I’ll take what I can get.”

The 36-year-old guitarist god went on to admit that Meg’s lack of enthusiasm was a strain on the band’s momentum and left him feeling off-kilter.

“Some people can live their whole lives in limbo. I’d rather cut the lifeline so we can move on with our lives. There came a point where I said, If we’re not doing this we need to put and end to it right now.’ And that’s what she wanted to do.”

And when asked if the band would still be thriving today if he could call the shots White admitted, “I’d make a White Stripes record right now. I’d be in the White Stripes for the rest of my life. That band is the most challenging, important, fulfilling thing ever to happen to me. I wish it was still here. It’s something I really really miss.”
