I found out about Imogen from my friend when I was 18 and instantly fell madly in love. I was freshly super heart broken and renting a place by the beach in Estonia to spend some time in solitude. This whole summer was crazy for me and Imogen’s “Speak for Yourself” album really helped me through a tough time.
Who doesn’t know, Imogen used to be one half of Frou Frou – the other half being Guy Sigsworth (I’ve worked with him and admire him so much) and I love the story of her making the Speak for yourself album – she famously sold her apartment to herself and used the money she got from the bank to build a studio and spend time recording. She writes, produces and engineers everything so she’s a complete one woman show.
SO so so much respect for her!!! Her latest Ellipse is beautiful too and she won a grammy for engineering it. No other chick in the world wins that grammy!
