Backstage Buzz At American Idol: Why Did Katy Perry’s Performance Make The Audience Mad?

Katy Perry is no doubt one of the biggest pop-stars in the world. From her elaborate stage sets to crazy clothes on the red carpet and her ever changing hair color, almost anyone would kill for a chance to see her live.

So you can only imagine the excitement that was rippling around the American Idol set in anticipation of seeing Katy perform her hit single “Part Of Me” in such an intimate setting.

As the time drew closer, the smiles only got wider. From our seat in the audience it was easy to feel the electricity from the crowd. Unfortunately, things took a bad turn during commercial break when the stage manager and audience fluffer made it known that there was secret attached to Katy’s performance. That only riled up the audience more.

That secret turned out to be showing the Idol audience a pre-taped performance from the previous night! The audience was not happy, to say the least. We heard several audience members vocalizing their disappointment by boo-ing the empty stage and saying, “This sucks.” and, “They should have told us.”

Eeek! We felt really bad for everyone who was upset, but in all honesty, we were more sad to see Elise Testone eliminated from the competition. When we caught up with her after the show, she expressed her appreciation for the opportunity, but made it clear she will never do a reality show again!

“If I could do it over again, I probably wouldn’t,” she spilled. “I just keep going. Remember what you learned. I never really was a huge fan of [reality television] in the beginning and everyone was shocked I did it, but I’m glad I did.”

Are you sad to see Elise go home? Do you think the audience was right to be upset? Sound off in the comments!
