Demi Lovato Lets It All Out In Her ‘Stay Strong’ MTV Special

It’s hard enough to face your demons head on and it’s another for it to be broadcast to the world. Still, amidst sharing her dark days with the world, Demi Lovato manages to ‘stay strong’ as her mantra exclaims. Last night March 6th, MTV premiered Demi’s documentary Demi Lovato: Stay Strong, which chronicled life after treatment and the journey to recovery for the 19-year-old entertainer.

In the documentary Demi talks about her ongoing road to recovery and comes clean about cutting herself and battling eating disorders. She also reveals she discovered she has bipolar disorder, which she was diagnosed with while in treatment. Throughout the special, Demi had some very powerful things to say.

Here are some quotes highlights from Demi Lovato: Stay Strong:

“When I was four years old, I remember looking in the mirror and running my fingers over my stomach and thinking I was fat.”

“I cannot tell you that I have not thrown up since treatment. I cannot tell you that I have not cut myself since treatment. I’m not perfect.”

“I believe that I definitely wasn’t given this voice just to sing. I think it was given to me for a bigger purpose.”

“People think you’re like a car in a body shop. You go in, they fix you and you’re out. It doesn’t work like that. It takes constant fixing.”

“Every time someone asks me for a picture or an autograph, even if I’m having a bad day and I’m in a bad mood, I remember, ‘You’re nothing without this person. They make it special.”

“If you took away music, I wouldn’t have a reason to live.”
