After all, the 22-year-old country crooner has been pictured at rehearsal in London preparing for the flick. With word that Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood were also in consideration to play the role, who got the part instead?
None of them! According to BroadwayWorld.com, stage actress Samantha Barks will be reprising the role of Eponine that she played at the 25th anniversary concert for the film. The producer Cameron Mackintosh announced the good news live on stage at Manchester Palace on the evening of January 31st, where Samantha was performing in Oliver!
She tweeted afterward, “Most incredible moment of my life!!!! X”
