Why Did Jennifer Lawrence Almost Die Filming ‘Hunger Games’?

If you’ve read The Hunger Games or at least have seen the trailer to the upcoming movie, you know that it’s about teens who must fight to the death, and many lives are lost. Of course, it’s only a movie… thankfully. So why was Hunger Games heroine Jennifer Lawrence almost killed while filming the movie? The 21-year-old actress who plays Katniss Everdeen had such a bad injury that she thought she had burst her spleen. Jennifer was running to a wall as fast as she could to gain momentum when her foot got stuck and she ended up landing stomach first. Ouch!

She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I had to do 10 ‘wall runs,’ where you run at the wall as hard as you can to get traction. I ran at it and my foot didn’t go up, so I caught the wall with my stomach. My trainer thought I had burst my spleen. I had to get a CAT scan and go into a tube where they put this fiery liquid in your body.”

Yikes! Oh Jennifer, it’s supposed to be only a movie… not the REAL Hunger Games! Luckily she was able to continue filming even with her health at risk, thanks to already being bulked up playing Mystique in X-Men: First Class.

What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?
