Three For Free: Axed X Factor Singer Rivals Winner And Other Free Alternative Covers

We all love covers right? Well, sometimes. Twitter got nasty yesterday as British X Factor ‘fans’ were offended by the winner’s song choice once again. Most were angry because in their opinion the song is exclusive to the original artist whereas others argued that one earlier auditionee performed it better than the finalists. Well that unsuccessful candidate was John Adams who’s giving away his cover for free along with States who are getting all festive and Raff who’s reinventing some Rowland.

John Adams

John Adams wowed the UK X Factor judges with his rendition of Damien Rice’s Cannonball but never made it to the ‘live’ shows. Many weeks later and Little Mix are crowned as X Factor’s winners, and will release their debut single … a cover of Cannonball. Damien Rice fans were less than impressed, and neither were John Adams’. The latter has decided to make his version available to all – it’s not an anti-X Factor song however as its free, and therefore not eligible to take part in the chart race for Christmas No. 1. John Adams is clearly a fan of giving his fans music for nothing as he’ll also spend December playing free “street gigs” across the UK.

States

Not a fan of Mariah Carey? Not a fan of Mariah Carey duetting with Justin Bieber? Well then maybe this recording of All I Want For Christmas Is You is more to your taste. States, who are members here on Buzznet, have decided to take part in the Tweet For A Track initiative so all you have to do is get on Twitter, post a message and the song is yours. What are the band’s holiday plans? Well they’re having December off but they’re back on the road in January with Anberlin and Foxy Shazam so catch them if you can.

Raff

Now we go full circle and find ourselves somehow connected to X Factor once again. No, Raff wasn’t booted off the talent show but he does manage to upstage the show’s judge Kelly Rowland with his soulful interpretation of her Guetta collaboration “When Love Takes Over”. Raff is joined with The Remedies who provide backing vocals for the giveaway tune.
