Why Was Ryan Gosling Blamed for a Hot Dog Thrown at Tiger Woods?

At a Tuesday golf match in San Martin, CA, a hot dog was thrown at golfer Tiger Woods and Ryan Gosling was to blame – even though the Drive actor was nowhere near the golf course! A local man, 31-year-old Brandon Kelly, was arrested for the offense. So why was Ryan blamed for the hot dog attack??

“I threw the hot dog toward Tiger Woods because I was inspired by the movie Drive,'” Brandon told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, according to the Associated Press. “As soon as the movie ended, I thought to myself, ‘I have to do something courageous and epic. I have to throw a hot dog on the green in front of Tiger.'”

The Associated Press confirms that Brandon called out Tiger’s name and tossed the wiener during the Frys.com Open and ended up getting arrested for disturbing the peace. A Santa Clara County Sheriff’s rep said that he will likely be given a fine and community service sentence for the misdemeanor.

Tiger recalled the incident, saying: “When I looked up, the hot dog was already in the air…The bun was kind of disintegrating. Some guy just came running on the green, and he had a hot dog, and evidently … I don’t know how he tried to throw it, but I was kind of focusing on my putt when he started yelling. Next thing I know, he laid on the ground, and looked like he wanted to be arrested because he … put his hands behind his back and turned his head.”
