Three For Free #3: Futures Premiere New Track For Free And More

Another week goes by and more free British music comes into my life. Futures unveiled an album track, The Dead Famous’ paid-for-by-peppers song turns out to be pop-punktastic and a lovely BUZZNET user recommended me a good trio who go by the name of Josh Beech & The Johns. Did I mention that you can listen and own all of the above for free?

Futures

One of Britain’s most promising bands is Futures. They rose phoenix-like from the ashes of Tonight Is Goodbye and have been making a name for themselves ever since. They can even proudly say that their debut gig was a complete sell-out. After the success of their self-released EP ‘The Holiday’ (given as a cover mount with Rock Sound magazine just like last week’s Three For Free‘s ‘Flood Of Red’), they signed to Mercury Records. Now they are giving us teasers of what’s to come from their first major label release. So far we’ve heard lead single “Say My Name” and now (because they’re just such nice guys), they’ve decided to give away another new song “Islands In The Sea”. The only catch is that you have to tweet or like to ‘unlock’ your download – it’s that easy.

The Dead Famous

I ‘discovered’ these guys after they gave me a follow on Twitter. The London-based band have teamed up with Peppadew to unashamedly very kindly give away their song “Superstar”. You can get a feel for the track before downloading by watching this little clip below. It’s a promising pop rock debut single, that’s for sure.

Josh Beech & The Johns

Changing the tone from pop-rock is Josh Beech & The Johns who although also describe themselve as “rock/pop” sound nothing like the above. Fact: genres are confusing. Anyway their “post folk/progressive” music is good, even if it is a little hard to define. Oh and did I mention they have two songs for free? Check them out below to get a taste for them. Don’t forget to thank intothewasteland for recommending them to me.
