First Look: Johnny Depp Looking HOT in ‘The Rum Diary’
Johnny Depp all cleaned up and driving in a vintage convertible is reason enough for me to see this movie, but it also has other redeeming qualities.
The Rum Diary is an adaptation of a half-true Hunter S. Thompson novel about down-and-out writer Paul Kemp. Depp plays Kemp who is seeking rum and peace in Puerto Rico while working at a dying San Juan newspaper. If you recall, Depp also played a dramatized version of Thompson in the mind-bending acid trip Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
The cast also includes Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, Richard Jenkins, and Giovanni Ribisi.
Producer Graham King revealed that, “Hunter S. Thompson became close with Johnny Depp during the filming of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and showed Depp the unpublished manuscript for The Rum Diary. I am extremely proud to bring this novel to film and to honor Hunter’s legacy.”
Here is Depp and Amber Heard looking all kinds of 50s gorgeous below:
Evidence of Thompson and Depp’s relationship can be proved by the below image of them driving in a convertable with both John Cusack and a blow-up doll:
The Rum Diary will hit theaters in late October.
