Conformity Vs. Being Unique

Self expression is something I care deeply about. I think everyone deserves to express him/herself openly, and should not be judged for doing so.

With that being said, I’m going to say why I strongly dislike stores like Abercrombie, Aeropostale, and Victoria’s Secret.

Stores I’m not a fan of: Abercrombie, Hollister, Aeropostale, AE, and Victoria’s Secret.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to purchase clothes with the STORE NAME written across them. Why does it matter where you shop? Do you really want people to know you get all of your clothes from Hollister, and spent $50 on your last pair of jeans?

And when everyone’s wearing clothes from these stores, you blend in. You look like everyone else, your individuality is taken from you. I’m not dissing anyone who wears clothing from these stores, I’m questioning why you would want to wear something with the store name written all over it. Why provide free advertising for them? Why become a billboard?

I’m not saying I don’t buy things from these stores, I like American Eagle, and some stuff from Aero. But I like the stuff that look unique, the clothing that doesn’t have AE written all over it. That’s why I like shopping at stores like Hot Topic (they don’t make their own clothes), and JCPenney, and PacSun.

My question is, why would you want to blend in. Don’t you want something people will rave about? Something no one’s ever seen before? Something no one else can get?

Why wear this shirt…

When you can rock something like this? (from //

I just want to challenge everyone who wears t-shirts with the store names written all over them to find new things to wear. New clothes to rock. Be yourself. Find something that really resembles you. I challenge you to try new stores, and find your style. Do you accept?

Some stores I suggest to help you?

// (Forever 21)

// (Charlotte Russe)

// (dELiA’s)

// (Hot Topic)

// (JCPenney)

// (Kohls)

// (Pacific Sunwear… i.e. PacSun)

// (Claire’s)

// (Macy’s)

I also suggest looking for stores that aren’t popular, stores that aren’t part of a chain. Try looking for thrift stores, or stores you don’t normally go to.
