Who SHOULD Have Been Nominated for a VMA?

The MTV VMA nominations have been released. Usually, this is the sort of thing to be met with a lot of fanfare, much of it kind of ridiculous because, as awards shows go, it’s not exactly the most prestigious. But hey, it’s FUN, right?

Well, this year, there’s not much fanfare, really, just a lot of WTF faces. Because the nominations are all over the darn place. Britney Spears somehow didn’t get a “Video of the Year” nomination. “Hurricane” by 30 Seconds to Mars is all over the technical categories users don’t get to vote for, but didn’t get a nod in any of the major categories.

Also conspicuously missing: both of Panic! at the Disco’s videos from Vices and Virtues, Kanye West’s epic “Monster” video, Rihanna’s “Man Down,” and, um, pretty much EVERYTHING Lady Gaga.

EDIT: It just came to our attention that NEITHER of My Chemical Romance’s “Killjoys” videos have been nominated! Nothing for “Na Na Na” OR “Sing!”

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to see Adele getting all kinds of praise, and I don’t blame them for mixing it up, but it just kind of seems out of touch, doesn’t it? Or maybe it’s just out of touch for Buzznet (after all, Buzznet only went 4 for 10 last year with our community picks versus the actual winners).

But basically, Buzznet, who do YOU think should have been nominated for a VMA this year? And do you think maybe Buzznet should hold our own darn Video Music Awards for 2011? Let us know!
