Obesity and Speed Fall ’11 Lookbook Featuring Sky Ferreira

I’ve been a huge fan of the New York City based label Obesity and Speed for quite some time now. Lyz Olko and Josh Conner started the dark and edgy label in 2006 and named it after lyrics from an obscure song by the punk band Huggy Bear (the name is not a play on fashion’s standard of beauty, regarding weight. It’s intended to be humorous without any serious underlying commentary). Their aesthetic is rooted in the darker side of things. The graphics are mostly hand-drawn or assorted from photographs and other images. I can’t get enough of the fall lookbook featuring my lovely and talented friend Sky Ferreira. Their designs include skulls, cross’, pentagramatic imagery, with handmade shredded seams and deconstructed details.
