Hair Candy: Bleach Salon

It hasn’t gone unnoticed that over the past six months, the high end models on the runways look like they’ve had their hair transformed from au natural shades of blonde and brown to something Rainbow Brite would be jealous of. I’m in no way saying that colourful hair is a new thing. For decades girls everywhere have been rebelling against the norm and dyeing their hair every imaginable shade, even Buzznet’s very own style queen Audrey Kitching has been rocking her pink locks for as long as I can remember. But how did something so underground become high-end fashion so quickly?

The answer lies in the district of Dalston in East London. Bleach salon specialises in transforming hair from the dull shades we were born with into almost cartoon-like creations. Celebrities clients such as Taylor Momsen and Pixie Geldof brought the salon to the attention of the high-end fashion world and it evolved from there. The trend caught on so well that Topshop’s flagship store in Oxford Street offered Bleach a pop-up salon in store.

Celebrities across the world are now experimenting with different colours in their hair. Last year we could never have imagined Lauren Conrad with rainbow ends!

I love that the hair is just as bold as the clothing now in fashion spreads and on the runways. If you were to dye your hair a bright colour, which would you choose? I think I would go for lilac and green ends. Let me know!
