Celebrate National Hot Dog Day With A Vegan Hot Dog Party!

I haven’t eaten a proper hot dog in many years. Even before I was vegan, I thought that hot dogs were were the devil because they are full of pieces of things that are picked up off the floor and strapped in a skin. This gif is pretty much the reason why I stopped eating hot dogs:

Oh Lisa Simpson, ILU4EVA

If memory serves, this episode came out in 1995. That means that it is probably older than some of you reading this blog. That is weird. I’m old. Anyway, it is pretty much what I think of any time I see hot dogs.

Seeing as how today is National Hot Dog Day, I thought that a hot dog party was in order. The weeners that I used for this blog were Field Roast Sausages, so I guess I am having a:

Look how happy all those sausages are! Party!

I guess I used Field Roast because they are very sturdy and tasty. Tofu Pups and Smart Dogs are all weird and gross and NO. Not that they aren’t good, I just don’t like them. If you boil them, they get all limp (lol) and if you fry them, they break out in boils. It’s pretty much nature’s way of saying that everything I love is gross. Thanks. We had a few flavors of these, not just the Mexican Chipotle ones, FYI.

Look at that lonely weener. Look at it. Le sizzle.

One of my friends was super excited that I brought some Daiya cheese to this party:

Daiya is vegan cheese. I know in your mind it is probably very hard to understand that concept. It is hard for me to understand as well. Daiya is beloved by vegans because it melts. Most vegan cheese just stays in whatever shape you cut it and that gives us all sad face. TBQH, Daiya doesn’t have any flavor. Well, to me anyway. It does have the texture of melty cheese but it’s kind of bland. I got it because we were going to make chili dogs. That made me excited.

That there is a vegan chili dog with some Pepperjack Daiya, which, strangely, had a flavor. It just took many eons to melt. That is also vegan potato salad and it was delish. I wanted to hug it. I guess I did. I hugged with my tummy.

This is a plain hot dog, that is looking all plain and sad. Please note how the chili is falling off the plate.

This hot dog is a step above the plain hot dog. It has relish on it so that means that it’s extra fancy.

For the next dog, we are getting even more fancy:

Look at that! It’s all dressed up!

Pretty much everyone kept making the same hot dogs for the sausage party, so I didn’t have many different types of dogs to take photos of. I also ate way too many chips and guacamole and had lots of this:

I was very full.

My friends and I watched Pride & Prejudice all day. It had Colin Firth in it. This mostly happens any time that we get together. I blame me. I like watching that all the time and then we just sit around and quote it and stare deeply into Colin Firth’s man-nificent, Brood-y McBrooderson eyes.

UNF. Oh how I’d love to be his hot water fetching boy!

So that was my Hot Dog day. I hope you have enjoyed it. Perchance you will to bless the comments beloweth with your favorite hot dog recipies or snacks or Colin Firth GIF’s. Ta! Happy Hot Dog Day!
