BLACK SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY UPDATE………
You might remember I told you about the Black Swallowtail caterpillars being able to change their chrysalis color that most resembles where it decides to pupate [it’s resting state] before it emerges as the adult butterfly. This caterpillar decided to go onto a stick I provided for it so now it looks like part of the stick. This gives the chrysalis protection from predators who might want to eat it. Wouldn’t you think it was just part of the stick ?
I had 7 caterpillars and one didn’t make it but 6 did so I have 6 chrysalids now getting ready to emerge as beautiful butterflies : )
