Stay Vocal: It’s Good For the Planet (And Your T-shirt Collection)

I am willing to bet that if you are a regular here at Buzznet, you own a decent number of tee shirts. Maybe they’re from concerts you’ve attended, maybe they’re just shirts you really liked, but I’m going to bet many of you can’t live without tee-shirts.

And you know what else we can’t live without? The planet.

And so, I’d like to introduce you to Stay Vocal, who’s slogan is “ReUse Apparel. Because You Can’t Recycle the Planet.”

Founded by Alex Eaves, a life-long music fan who’s toured with groups like Green Day, 311 and Blink-182, the company rescues and reuses both brand new T’s set to be destroyed and shirts from thrift stores and donations. They produce limited edition and one-of-a-kind shirts, and many of their shirts carry with them some kind of activist message. And ALL of their designs are just plain awesome.

Check out a few of their designs to see what I’m talking about:

That final design comes from their Water Saver Line, which I will allow them to describe in their own words:

The “Water Saver” design is based on the fact that it takes 400 gallons of water to grow enough cotton for just one new t-shirt. By purchasing one of our ReUse shirts instead of a new one, you are helping save that 400 gallons of water for other more important uses (drinking, food crops, etc).

Okay, to interject: CAN YOU BELIEVE IT TAKES THAT MUCH WATER JUST TO GROW THE COTTON FOR ONE T-SHIRT?! Seriously!

To see the rest of Stay Vocal’s offerings, you can check out their website. And, through the month of June, they will be offering a one-of-a-kind design EVERY DAY. And remember, “Stay Vocal” isn’t just a t-shirt slogan, it’s a necessary mantra for the world we live in.
