‘The Glee Project’ Recap: Episode 3

It may only be the third episode, but bring on the waterworks! This week’s The Glee Project ep was possibly the most emotional one yet – perhaps the theme “Vulnerability” gave it away? If you haven’t seen this ep yet, a heed of warning to you: BREAK OUT THE TISSUES.

The homework assignment for the remaining 10 contestants was Pink’s emotionally charged track “Please Don’t Leave Me.” The ten had perform their homework assignment in front of none other than Coach Beiste herself, actress Dot-Marie Jones – who knows a thing or two about being vulnerable. The tear-jerking Pink track brought out some over-the-top-action (from contender Lindsay, who actually talked back when Dot gave some criticism – OH NO SHE DIDN’T!) as well as some subtle emotion-evoking performances from diva Emily (who for the first time wasn’t just her sassy self) and Matheus (who Dot said “broke her heart”). In the end, the winner of the assignment went to Matheus, earning him a one-on-one coaching session with Dot. That’s two wins for Matheus! Could he be the next Glee star?

After the winner was announced, it was revealed that the next music video assignment would be the Tears for Fears song, “Mad World” (but you already knew that!). The assignment also involved writing down the one word that they were the most insecure about. The prompt for the music video: for each of the contestants to walk around L.A.’s Universal Citywalk wearing signs that indicate what they are most vulnerable.

In JUICY ONSET DRAMA news: Lindsay has an opinion about absolutely everything and everyone definitely has a strong opinion about THAT. Wonder how long the other contestants can deal with it until one of them confronts her about it. Yikes! Seems like only a matter of time until the claws come out…

And in more video-appropriate drama news: After seeing fellow contestant Alex shooting his scene in the video (the contestants were all able to see their fellow competitors on a large screen to see what their filming was like), Marissa broke down and decided to change her sign, which said “Flawed,” to what she thought was more daunting and true to her: “Anorexic.” Props to her for being brave enough to admit that! Needless to say, it was a super-emotional shoot but with heart-breaking and emotion evoking results.

After the video was wrapped, the bottom three was revealed. This week’s bottom 3: Emily, who had to sing “Grenade” by Bruno Mars, Cameron, who had to sing the Elton John classic “Your Song” TWICE and Damien, who had to sing the Elvis hit “Are You Lonesome Tonight.”

In the end, Damien and Cameron received a callback, while Emily was the one sent back home in the elimination round.

And then there were 9.

What did you think of this week’s “Vulnerability” episode? What would your cardboard have said if you were a contestant?
