Drum Roll Please…Announcing the Winner of Buzznet’s TWLOHA T-Shirt Contest!

Whitney Port asked YOU to design an amazing tee for charity TWLOHA to sell on this year’s Warped Tour and the Buzznet community came through with flying colors. It’s finally time to announce the winner! After going through all of your incredible entries, Whitney has chosen the winner of our t-shirt contest. It was no easy task! Competition was intense and there were SO many incredible designs. But Whitney narrowed it down to her favorite tee.

And the winner is (drum roll please!)… Johnson “Johnsaurus” Le!!!

We love his design too! Congratulations Johnson! After telling Johnson about his win, we took a little time to get to know him and the thoughts behind his totally cute design.

Johnson is a 19 year-old self taught graphic designer and has his own clothing line called “Johnsaurus.” He wanted his t-shirt to be a reminder that everyone is beautiful and was inspired by Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up.” Johnson joked around with us and told us about his favorite ice cream, his other designs and Thomas Jefferson?! You can follow Johnson on Twitter @Johnsaurus.

Tell us about yourself!

Hi, I’m Johnson Le. I’m a nineteen year old Vietnamese dude. I like mint chocolate chip ice cream, music, karate movies, dinosaurs, pokemon, this one girl and that one girl. I was born in San Diego, California, but grew up mostly in Oxnard, California. I graduated from Rio Mesa High School ’09 and I JUST finished a semester taking Drawing Composition.

How’d you get to be so COOL??

Haha I’m cool as everyone. Thomas Jefferson said, “All men are created equal” and I think its kewl to think that way.

What do you do for work and for fun?

I’m a self taught graphic designer and I’ve worked with bands and clothing companies. I run a small clothing line called “Johnsaurus” based in Oxnard, California. I listen to music, play video games, hang out, and draw for fun.

What was the inspiration behind your design?

I hear alot of people talking about how they think they’re ugly and its really depressing when they do that. So while listening to Arcade Fire “Wake Up,” I came up with a quote and a sketch of a furry monster that sends out a positive message. When people read it, it will remind them that they’re not ugly. They are always beautiful.

Have you ever designed a tshirt before?

I have designed a shirt before and it’s really fun. It makes me happy when people wear it too, ’cause I’m like “Yeah I drew that!” Y’know? I love designing t-shirts so much that its not even considered work for me. It’s a hobby!

Do you have any personal connection with TWLOHA or have any thoughts about the organization you’d like to share?

I love what TWLOHA is doing. Sending out positive messages, helping people in any way they can, and I like the whole idea and story behind it.

How about Whitney Port?

I knew Whitney before the contest, ’cause she’s been on television. If I were a girl, I would think she has great taste in style and clothing, haha. She seems pretty awesome, judging from her shows. I also wanna thank her so much for choosing my design as the winner. It really means alot to me!

Anything else you’d like to share?

Thank you so much Elise, Buzznet, TWLOHA, Whitney Port, and especially to all the people that buzzed, commented, and helped out my post. <3

Make sure to pick up one of Johnson’s limited edition tees at the TWLOHA booth at this year’s Warped Tour. Maybe you’ll even get to meet Johnson himself, as he scored two tickets to the festival!

Thank you for all of your outstanding entries. Keep designing and spreading TWLOHA’s message of hope!
