Turning Old Books Into Art, What A Novel Idea
Illinois born contemporary artist Brian Dettmer puts a spin on mixed media art by turning old books into sculptures. Essentially taking a small scalpel to a book, Dettmer forms images much like reading – starting with the front cover and meticulously making cuts to the pages that lie underneath.
