Premiere of Disney’s Prom and After Party “Prom” Rocks Hollywood

Thursday evening, Disney premiered its newest film Prom at the El Capitan in Hollywood and hosted it’s very own rocking prom at Hollywood High School after the screening. I had the opportunity to check out the movie and watch an intimate performance by Allstar Weekend at the “after-prom” …which pretty much was greater than any prom. Ever.

The night began by checking out the red carpet that took up an entire block of Hollywood Blvd! The carpet was packed with celebs and I even ran into the guys of Allstar Weekend, who recently visited Buzznet and told us about their prom experience! And by the way, while on the carpet I noticed Kylie Jenner and I were totally rocking the same blue dress! Good choice, Kylie! 😉

Cambio Connect, who graciously hooked me up with passes to the event, ruled the carpet and live streamed the entire event on their site. Miss out on the action? You can watch the entire stream here!

The carpet led right into the El Capitan, which was like no movie theater I’ve ever seen! They even had free refreshments! Tyler Blackburn from Pretty Little Liars was hanging in the lobby along with quite a few other familiar faces…including Rebecca Black. Yes, THE Rebecca Black. As in “Friday, Friday!” I told her she was awesome. It was awesome.

The theatre was ornately decorated and the screen was displaying hilarious old school prom photos. I was sitting right near Debby Ryan from Suite Life on Deck and Blair Fowler, a YouTube beauty guru who made a cameo in the film. The theater was also packed with people who worked on the movie, and it was fun to hear them get excited when their names flashed on the screen.

The film, by the way, was totally awesome! I loved all the characters. Thomas McDonell played a bad boy with a sweet side (and a habit of appearing from behind fountains) and looked totally cute while doing so. I loved Nicholas Braun, playing the adorable Llyod who was desperate to find a prom date. The sophomore characters were also fun and I loved Lucas (Nolan Sotillo) and Corey’s (Cameron Monaghan) passion for rock music. I don’t want to give too much away, but despite all the obstacles, the prom rocked!

After the movie, everyone headed to the Hollywood High gym for a very Disney prom. Each guest was given their own candy necklace as they entered (see the movie to see why!). The DJ was playing, there was a prom photo set-up and plenty of fun desserts to be had. YouTube star Jason Pitts kicked the night off, playing the song he wrote to serenade the girl he wanted to take to prom. (She said yes!) The entire cast of the film was brought onstage shortly after and they had a chance to take their bows.

Soon Allstar Weekend took to the stage to play some of their hits, including ‘Not Your Birthday,’ which was featured in the prom scene of the film. The band rocked it and Cameron announced he was looking for a prom date midway through their set. The ASW guys even took to the dance floor after their performance and danced the night away with friends and fans.

The premiere and prom party was a total blast!! I’m so grateful that Cambio invited me to the event and I was able to check out the movie. Even if your prom has already passed or you’re still a long ways away from prom, I recommend checking out the movie when it debuts in theaters April 29th!!
