Happy New No Doubt Album Sometime This Year? PARTY!

You figure if you’ve waited for ten years for an album full of new music from a band, waiting a few more months wouldn’t be a big deal. But you’d be WRONG.

No Doubt hasn’t released a CD of new music since 2001’s Rock Steady. They DID release a Greatest Hits album in 2003 and a B-Sides album in 2004 and it’s not like lead singer Gwen Stefani hasn’t been all over the place with the success of her solo albums. But it’s just not the SAME.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music since the band reformed in 2009 and toured with Paramore and The Sounds, but so far all we’ve gotten is promises of “soon!” Well, here’s another one, but this promise sounds more…um…promising than the others.

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Gwen dropped the news that the band has 10 tracks recorded and is working on a few more…and that she thinks the album is going to be out this year.

HOORAY! But what kind of music can we expect from No Doubt this time around? After all, they started off as ska-punk and as of Rock Steady they had introduced a lot of reggae and dancehall sounds into the music. And with ten years to grow and mature as people and musicians, what will they be bringing to the studio with them this time?

Well, Gwen says “There’s a lot of upbeat songs. It’s generally a pretty happy record.”

I’LL TAKE IT!
