Exclusive: Buzznet Chats with Patrick Stump About His ‘Spotlight’ Music Video, Pre-Show Nerves, and the Soul Punk Album Release

Buzznet had the distinct honor to sit down and interview Patrick Stump, Fall Out Boy lead singer and current Soul Punk solo artist, before his two sold out shows at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, CA.

We asked Patrick about his inspirational “Spotlight” music video, what the differences were between performing for Fall Out Boy and performing solo, whether or not he gets any pre-show nerves, and what the plan was for his full length release of Soul Punk. He told us stories about his new found cup-stacking skills, finding a new rhythm on stage, and a possible Soul Punk release for late July. He also mentioned that he wants to keep touring, and we couldn’t support that idea more!

Check out the full interview below!

Buzznet stayed for both of his sold out shows, relishing in Patrick’s new found dance moves and confident stage presence. He was like a completely different person perched on that little stage, reeling in his audience as though his life depended on it.

He played tunes off of his current EP Truant Wave while mixing in some covers of Kanye West’s “All of the Lights,” his good friends in Cobra Starship’s “Kiss My Sass,” and a spur of the moment piano medley of “Me and Mrs. Jones,” and last but not least the crowd favorite “Cupid’s Chokehold.”

If there’s one thing that’s for sure it’s that this kid really does have soul, and whether or you’re a Fall Out Boy fan or not, you should check out his solo gigs because his awe-inspiring performance is sure to bring you to your knees.

Patrick also chatted with our friends at Idolator, so be sure to check out that interview HERE.
