Warner Bros To Remake 1992 Film ‘The Bodyguard’

Warner Bros has announced that they are doing a reboot of The Bodyguard, the 1992 box office hit starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

If you aren’t old enough to remember or are too old to remember the classic 90’s film’s premise, the flick was about a tough-nosed bodyguard (played by Kevin Costner) who was sworn to protect a high-profile singer (played by Whitney Houston) from a crazed stalker, and ends up falling for her in a way that he fears distracts him from his job.

Deadline reports, “The new version is similar, including the love story, but here the bodyguard will be a former Iraq war veteran who gets the job protecting the star as his first gig after leaving the Army. He discovers that the world of Twitter, Google Maps and TMZ has made access to celebrities easier than ever, making the job more difficult than ever.”

Hmm, interesting.

Even if you didn’t dig the movie, there’s no denying this soundtrack is CLASSIC.

A question to ponder: Will the soundtrack be vital to the movie? The 1992 film’s soundtrack, recorded by Whitney Houston, is the most successful movie soundtrack of all time. Whitney’s version of “I Will Always Love You” (originally by Dolly Parton) was a smash hit, and continues to live on as a hit.

How do you feel about The Bodyguard being remade? Is the remake something you’d watch? Who would you like to see star in the reboot?
