Single on Valentine’s Day?

This past Monday was that day I dread all year long….Valentine’s Day. I know it’s not a real holiday and it was merely invented by candy and card companies so you would spend riduclous amounts of money to show your loved ones that you care….but still, I dread it. I’ve never had a valentine (other than my parents), so for once I wanted to feel what its like to get pampered and feel special for a day. Alas, this year was not my year. I did however, end up having a great time with some girlfriends. My friend Jadan (who happens to write for this amazing fashion blog The Blonde & The Brunette) invited all her single friends to the illustrious W Hotel in Hollywood for some drinks, mingling and laughs. I wavered between staying home, eating chocolate and watching sappy love movies by myself or leaving the house. Luckily, I chose the latter. A few cocktails down and we found ourselves sitting amongst their beautiful outdoor courtyard having a great time. I finally realized that you don’t need to have a “valentine” to enjoy Valentines Day. As cheesy as it sounds, its simply a day to celebrate any type of love you have in your life, whether that be for friends, family or a significant other. I’m still not giving up on my Valentines Day fantasy, but the love of my friends and family are pretty fulfilling….for now at least 🙂
