SCHREI – From suburban band of Magdeburg to the most desired band of the world. (pt.4)
JUNG UND NICHT MEHR JUGENDFREI
The sonorities
This song has been the opening of SCHREI LIVE TOUR, a perfect choice because the intro is a crescendo of power for immediately heat the crowd. The rhythm is catchy and simple for enter in the mind at the first listening. During the refrain the drums add a touch of rhythm more. Another song for cheer up a boring travel in car!
The message
As LEB’ DIE SEKUNDE, this song turn around youth theme, without call up the quick of the time but the lack of appreciation from adults toward new generations (“Ihr steht immer pünktlich auf und verpennt was bei uns geht”, “You always wake up early and you don’t notice what happen to us”). In the text, Bill insists about the innocence that adults assign to the sons sometimes is false (“Eure Rechnung ist mit uns nicht aufgegangen wir fangen schon mal zu leben an”, “Your counts on us were wrong, we already started to live”) and informs also the parents who continuing to consider sons as good for nothing, they will not notice that already have supplanted them on all the levels (“Habt uns nicht kommen sehen. Hallo ihr habt’n Problem. Weil wir das Kommando übernehmen£, “You didn’t see us arrive. Well, you will have a problem. Because now who commands are us!”). Authentic independence’s declaration against the inactivity and the incomprehension of parents, the song is, one more time, a tool for Bill for set oneself as spokesman of his generation: “Sometimes sing gives me the sensation of the freshness links to the childhood. When it’s been released our first album we were really young. And I know it’s made turn up one’s nose at someone that four 15 years old boys could express so directly their loves and hates in front of all. We want make to see how boys and girls are today because we are tired to hear stupid things on our generation, and the old people repeats that before was better”
The sonorities
4th and last single excerpted from SCHREI album, the video has been shot on the roof of Kosmos movie theater in Berlin on July 18th,2006, of course the fans didn’t miss a single instant… The drums open the song, then in a crescendo of guitar and bass, the track explodes in the refrain in typical rock style! The energy is listened and you can’t stay there without start to jump. DER LETZTE TAGE gives you the charge to go on!
The message
Even though the title means: the last day or final day how it’s been translate in the English version, it’s hard understand the real meaning of the song, with pessimist lyrics(“Hat unser Ende angefangen?”, “Is it maybe started our end?”; “Wo’s am Horizon zu Ende ist und alle Träume schlafen gegen”, “Here where the horizon ends and all the dreams go to sleep”). Is Bill talking of the end of the world? Or maybe to the end of a love? The two things can be linked together (“Und wenn du bleibst dann sterbe ich noch nicht”, “If you stay, I don’t die yet”: “Sind wir zum letzten mal zusammen”, “Do we stay together for the last time?”) because we know Bill is really romantic and in his songs sometimes talks about impossible love. A song about the introspection (from the begging to the end Bill asks questions to himself and seems lost), calls up a mysterious dimension that the singer surely developed for rack the brain of the fans…
The sonorities
Mystical and new wave atmospheres for this first song written to all the members. Like always, the bass is like a lion and carries this track rather linear in more soft places than the usual ones. A song with a particularity in their genre that offers an alternative to the energetic songs and to the ballads in the whole album, in the first version of SCHREI is the last song, almost it wants to say: it’s the end (already anticipated to DER LETZTE TAG), a quiet and different song is perfect as ending track.
The message
In this text rather short, Bill shuts in a muffled place with the loved person, in shelter to the outside world (“Alles treibt an uns vorbei”, “Everything passes through us”). Absorbed in this bliss, the singer displays a serenity rather rare and uses the word UNENDLICHKEIT (infinite, immense) like symbol of the Paradise available, of a life without constrictions. Poetic words which message says that when, like him, we realize our dreams, nothing seems impossible. “The song is a vision of the life rather lyric and imaginary, almost a sorta of dream turns in music” says Bill “The album was almost finished when we wrote this song during a jam session. We were all together to write and do jamming, it was a really pleasure moment, really relaxed, as we were in another world. And we tried to write just this atmosphere”
