Another Fairy Tale Gets the ‘Twilight’ Treatment in ‘Red Riding Hood’

It seems like it’s really hard for a teen drama to avoid getting compared to Twilight these days. After all, there’s been stories with love triangles and pining, angsty teens before sparkly vampires entered the equation, so maybe it’s not entirely fair.

But in the case of Red Riding Hood, it might not be entirely WRONG. After all, the film is being directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the first Twilight film, and the fact that the movie contains a love triangle, probably involving a werewolf, doesn’t entirely help.

But at least it looks pretty.

This isn’t the first case of a fairy tale being updated for modern teen audiences. After all, the upcoming film Beastly is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and features the one exchange I will pay a lot of money to never hear ever again in a film:

Heroine: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?Hero: TO PROTECT YOU! >:(

What do you guys think of the Red Riding Hood trailer? On your “to see” list based on this? I’m probably going to be willing to give it a try, like I said, it looks pretty and while Hardwicke did Twilight, she also directed Lords of Dogtown, which I LOVED.
