Teen Vogue’s EJ Samson Talks Fashion with Buzznet

Northwestern grad EJ Samson is the wind beneath TeenVogue.com ‘s wings. As the web director, he wears many hats, from writer to editor to art director to celebrity gossip blog peruser (hey, it’s a hard job but someone’s gotta do it). We got EJ to take some time out of his hectic schedule to talk fashion with us, and the minute he said Rickie Vasquez, we knew we were meant to be life-long friends. Read more below:

Buzznet: Who are your style icons?

EJ Samson: Rickie Vasquez from My So-Called Life. I also lived for Todd Oldham’s “Todd Time” segment on MTV’s House of Style. I tried dyeing my hair with Kool-Aid and everything!

BN: What is your absolute favorite item of clothing?

ES: Black Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars. I abuse my right to wear them with everything and buy a new pair every year.

BN: What fashion trend do you wish would just go away already?

ES: Skinny jeans, but only so I can stop working out.

BN: If your style had a theme song, what would it be?

ES: Empire State of Mind

BN: Describe your look in three words or less

ES: Prep-school-dropout
