(((Soundwear))): Dum Dum Girls’ Bad Girls Gone Girl Group Style

Let’s get one thing straight: I love a good girl group. And Dum Dum Girls are just that, a modern day interpretation of The Ronettes, all catchy hooks and thick harmonies but surrounded in a soft cloud of lo-fi fuzz. Lead singer (the Ronnie Spector of this siutation) Dee Dee (nee Kristin Gunred) worked with Richard Gottehrer who co-wrote the classic girl group hit “My Boyfriend’s Back” to produce Dum Dum Girls’ latest album I Will Be, and the result is pitch-perfect pop with just the right amount of roughness around the edges. The ladies of Dum Dum Girls (a nod to an Iggy Pop song) also have a style that is nostalgic with an edge: all bangs, black lace, moto jackets and red lipstick. These are the girls smoking in the bathroom at school and riding shot gun in the hot rods with the bad boys. Get the look:
