BUZZ GUIDE: Warpaint, Justin Beiber’s Criminal Army, and Fist-pumping
MUSIC: WARPAINT
It may be that I’m a little biased about this band because a) I know them and b) I spent 2 weeks on tour with them seeing the band play each and every night. Bias aside, Warpaint is a band on the rise. A girl group that’s more punk than prim, the ladies of Warpaint mix jam-like psychedelic sounds with throbbing bass lines and frenetic percussion for a unique sound that is all their own. Touted by John Frusciante and recently signed to Rough Trade, the band played an incredible packed set at this year’s Lollapalooza. This fall they’re going on tour with the XX, so check their Myspace for dates. Also, watch their amazing video for the song “Stars” below:
MOVIES: ANYTHING WITH DREW BARRYMORE OR JUSTIN LONG BUT ESPECIALLY A MOVIE WITH BOTH OF THEM
It should be known that I am a sucker for rom-coms. I own the Hugh Grant 4-pack (Love Actually is maybe my favorite film of all time) and I definitely cried at the preview for Notting Hill. So it’s no surprise that I am puh-retty excited to see this film. Will report back with how it was (but I’m sure I will like it).
