I Suppose It Was Inevitable: Twilight Graphic Novel to Release in March

Yep. That’s right. Twilight fans can now look at pretty manga style pictures of Bedward and Ella as they fall in love. Dreamy.

The adaptation of the novel was drawn by Young Kim. This is her first graphic novel. And, in typical manga style, Edward is a bishie who just needs true love to tame the savage beast. And Bella is still boring, obnoxious and ungrateful to everyone in her life, but at least she’s drawn pretty.

The actual writing of the dialog and such was handled by none other than Stephenie Meyer herself. Who insisted several “missing scenes” from the book be included in this adaptation. So, there’s that to look forward to.

In an interview, Meyer talks about working on the comic and how it “brought her back to Twilight.”

It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it.

(Will avoid obvious “That’s because there’s so damn many mistakes, Smeyer” comment.)

(Crap, wait, I didn’t avoid that, did I? Oh well.)

Anyway, I’m a little bitter that this book was not picked up by Marvel instead. Nor was I asked to write the adaptation. I think it would have gone pretty well:

Come on, I’d win an Eisner for this, no question.
