Enough Is Enough – The Ironic T Shirt Must Die

If you ever need to solidify your status as a buger in the nose in society, there is probably a t shirt that states this all in the name of “irony.” The ironic t shirt is like a public service announcement that warns everyone of what a terd you truly are. What better way to spend your parents money than on something that lets us all know your level of douchbaggotry?

While meandering about the interwebz for fun things to post in forums, I came across a website that sells t shirts with the latest in douchebag mantras. I usually don’t pay any mind to t shirts that sport slogans like “Beer: Helping ugly people have sex since..” but I saw one that caught my eye while glancing over this particular site:

I have decided to leave the model alone, as a models life IS SEW HARD as it is. Save Darfur. Plese, do. Just make sure it’s the place in Africa. I know geography is hard because a lot of those other countries, they all look the same, right? I didn’t know that the human race was at a point in its history where we could mock genocide. This is a “too soon” if ever there was one.

Upon further inspection of this site, I came across this gem:

Then, there was this one:

In case you can’t read that one, it says “Mexican Basketball Association – 4th Annual Juan on Juan Tournament.” You know, because all Mexicans are named Juan. Also, those crazy Mexicans and their constant use of the sombrero! How silly! I laugh at your culture!

Both of these shirts propagate stereotypes in the name of fun. There was another Irish themed shirt that said “Irish I were drunk.” You know, because all them Irish people do is drink.

These two shirts are the cotton-y equivalent of this:

This lovely gem of a photo comes to you via a Mexican, gangster styled party. I guess this is o.k because these kids are just having fun. Who cares that they further a stereotype in a mocking fashion? Oh, it gets worse:

I hope none of these people have children.

This is about Native Americans, right? Let us, the makers of this t shirt, remind you that you once had the vast spoils of what is now America to yourself. This, however, is not the case anymore. You have been pushed back to the lands that the government didn’t want, so please, do enjoy while you wear your head-dress and tuxedo.

That is probably where these t shirts are made. Hooray profit margins! Whatever, right? I mean, they’re kids. They’ll get over their hellish working conditions, their malnourishment, their poverty stricken lives and grow up just fine. That’s just part of being a kid!

These t shirts make me do the head + desk thing. If you ever see one of someone sporting one of these culturally insensitive travesties, scorn them with your eyes and then mock them in your blog. I am all for dumb/silly t shirts that actually convey humour but these just seem a bit much. If you want a great shirt, go and buy this one:
