Blink 182 Holds a Moment of Silence for DJ AM

After the sudden loss of their friend DJ AM on Friday night, rockers Blink 182 still took to the stage on Saturday in Hartford, CT, for a show on their whirlwind reunion tour. But during the show, the loss was felt.

“He was an innovator and he was a genius, and he loved music more than anyone else on this planet and above all he was an amazing friend,” Mark Hoppus tearfully announced on stage. He also called for a moment of silence for AM, born Adam Goldstein, who was found dead in his New York City apartment. The band then began performing the song “Down.”

Travis Barker, who survived the horrific plane crash last year along with AM, skipped his usual levitating drum solo near the end of the show and was reportedly generally off of his game all night. Understandably so. However, earlier in the day he paid tribute to his friend on his Twitter:

“Don’t know how i am gonna play 2night but i am for AM. My brother is gone.i love u and miss u, i’ll never forget all the good times we had. …

“I’ll never forget everything we’ve been thru and every time i play the drums i’ll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being. …

“Rest In Peace my brother, this really f—s me up.”

He has since been twittering pictures and videos in rememberance of AM and has changed his user icon to an “RIP DJ AM” design.
