Oh, She’s Just Being Sued! I Mean, Being Miley!
Miley Cyrus should really just stop having her picture taken. Between the waves of photos of the young performer that were much more scandalous than her Disney-based audience was ready to handle and all the scandal surrounding her (fairly tame and heavily artistic) Vanity Fair shoot last year, it seems like maaaaybe the Hannah Montana star should stop showing up in photos.
Because recently we had a new wave of Miley-photo-drama: a photo of the singer pulling at her eyes with her fingers leaked to the web. Immediately, there was outcry of racism and accusations that Cyrus was poking fun at Asians with her actions.
Cyrus replied to the outcry with an apology, saying “In no way was I making fun of any ethnicity! I was simply making a goofy face. When did that become newsworthy?… It seems someone is trying to make something out of nothing to me. If that would have been anyone else, it would have been overlooked! I definitely feel like the press is trying to make me out as the new ‘bad girl’!” She also claimed the picture was “taken out of context.” Not surprisingly, this apology was not accepted by many Asian-American groups, Cyrus apologized again, this time claiming “I really wanted to stress how sorry I am if the photo of me with my friends offended anyone. I have learned a valuable lesson from this and know that sometimes my actions can be unintentionally hurtful. I know everything is a part of GOD’s ultimate plan, and mistakes happen so that eventually I will become the woman he aspires me to be.”
Well, apparently God’s plan for Miley may involve a class action lawsuit. Because a $4 billion law suit has been filed against the singer, claiming she “knew or should have known that her image would be publicly disseminated via the media, which Cyrus knew focused on her private life, specifically TMZ.”
