Alkaline Trio to Headline First Ever “Pick Up the Phone” Tour

Untreated depression is the number one cause of suicide, and suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers.” –From the National Institute of Mental Health, via To Write Love on Her Arms.

Depression is a scary, scary topic. And often, one of the major issues with seeking help for depression is the disease itself stands in your way: everything seems overwhelming, even seeking treatment.

However, there is help and there are people who care. Like Alkaline Trio, who will be headlining the very first Pick Up the Phone Tour in order to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention. They will be joined by Anberlin and Single File, and the tour is being sponsored by To Write Love on Her Arm, Postsecret.com and 1-800-SUICIDE.

The tour will begin in April, visiting college campuses across the country. Each stop will include a mental health fair in order to educate concert goers and will offer on-site depression screenings.

Alkaline Trio front man Matt Skiba is proud that his band can be part of this tour. “Suicide is a very permanent solution to what may be a temporaryproblem and it feels great to be a part of something that is purelythere to help people in times of desperation. If one life is saved because of the hotline than I consider it a success and we’re very proud to in any way bea part of something so positive.”
