‘**** Live In Phoenix’ review: ditch the CD, spring for the DVD

I earnestly love every one of Fall Out Boy’s CDs. Well, I’m not gonna lie to kick it, I don’t own Evening Out with Your Girlfriend, but I am quite fond of “Pretty in Punk.”

So, I thought this live **** Live In Phoenix CD/DVD package would be no exception. I can’t weigh in on the DVD yet, but the CD? Not into it.

Listening to a live CD of a show you’ve been to (I was not in Phoenix, but hey, different city, same shtick) is like being around the corner from a show. I want to yell, “PETE WHERE YOU AT? PATRICK?! KEEP SINGING I WILL FIND YOU OKAY? I’M COMING GUYS! I WILL FOLLOW YOUR VOICES!! BE RIGHT THERE!!!”

I tried listening through several times, but it left me longing for the album version of the songs… or at least some Wentz-licking-bass action. True, there is the mediocre Micheal Jackson “Beat It” cover, and P. Stump, I love when you cover just about anything—but remember how you faked everyone out by putting a track called “Thriller” that was NOT an MJ cover on IOH? I may or may not be holding a small grudge about that.

And your thoughts, FOB fans? DVD > CD?
