Bamboozle Left ’08: Hayley Joins NFG; Fans Riottttt for Paramore!

IRVINE, CaliforniaBamboozle Left ’08 day one: From hanging with Paramore to seeing Hayley sing along with New Found Glory and saying bye to The Starting Line, it was a day to remember. [Cut = Read more…]

The line to get in was literally two miles long, and I got there at doors! So sadly, I had to enjoy The Cab from the parking lot. Hot damn, they sounded SO flawless. The other day I bought “One of Those Nights” on iTunes, but I think “I’ll Run” still has my heart.

Once I got in, I ran through the merch section, said what’s up to Nick from RunnerRunner (they’re on Buzznet, add ’em!), and then ran to the Nokia Rush stage to watch some Automatic Loveletter. I took some pics, chhhheck ’em!

Then I ran to the MLB stage to catch some of Charlotte Sometimes, who is super-cute AND sounded fantastic! (Check out Buzznet’s recent chat with Charlotte right here.) I’m surprised there weren’t more people there to see her, but I bet they were still in line outside.

I ran over to the Now What stage to check out Daphne Loves Derby. I kind of felt like they shouldn’t have been a main stage band because the crowd response was kind of weak — or maybe it’s just the type of band they are, who knows. I got some video of them, though.

I think maybe the saddest moment of BamLeft was when The Starting Line played and reminded everyone that after the tour they’d be taking an indefinite hiatus. They said thank you to the bands that had been so good to them over the years and ended the set by playing “Best of Me.” During the last chorus, they stopped playing and let the audience sing … then they walked off the stage. Something about that ended totally f—ing tugged at my heartstrings. Well-played, TSL. We’ll miss you.

After that I was busy being nervous about interview PARAMORE. It went perrrrfectly though, and Hayley and Jeremy are adorable! (Interview coming in the next couple days, promise!)

At 6:20 I bolted across the main stage crowd to be ready for NFG. I gush about them quite frequently ’round these parts, so I don’t think I have to go into detail, but it was freakin’ rad to watch them perform “It Ain’t Me” with Hayley Williams singing the girl vox. NFG already has a TON of energy, but she brought the extra kick to that song.

After NFG the entire crowd shifted/pushed/struggled to the left, where Alkaline Trio were playing. They’re never that interesting to watch because they don’t move a whole lot, but they did play a couple of new songs, and I was totally into it. I’m ready for the new album!

So since I was up near the front for Alk3, I thought it would be a good idea to stay there while Face to Face were playing on the adjacent stage, and wait for Paramore’s set.

It was rough though.

The only way out of the pit was UP. And everyone was going up to get out. I vlogged it. Srs bzns.

So after a security guard rescued me and I hydrated myself, I sat down and chilled to listen to Jimmy Eat World. Everyone was dancing around and happy.

I headed to my car at the end of Jimmy Eat World’s set because I thought I was going to hit up the AP afterparty. But no. I sat in the parking lot for a few hours, not moving. The good thing was I could hear the All-American Rejects pretty perfectly.

(Don’t miss DJ Rossstar’s chat with All-American Rejects singer Tyson Ritter right here.)

Off to take on day two!!!!
