Book Blog: Zombies, Fame and WTWTA

It’s been awhile since I’ve talked about anything bookish her on Buzznet, so, it’s time!

First off, last weekend I went to the West Hollywood book fair and there was a panel on zombie fiction! I ended up buying Breathers by S.G. Browne (the zombie is the main character for a change) because he was an interesting speaker AND he sold the screen rights to Fox Searchlight. Diablo Cody is going to produce the movie version! Also picked up Pretty Dead by Francesca Lia Block, who is a YA author. Haven’t started either one yet, but I’ll let you know.

Nick Hornby (he wrote High Fidelity, Songbook, About A Boy… ringing a bell?) just wrote another very music-inspired novel called Juliet, Naked.

Goodreads has an interview with him where he talks about how the consumption of music has changed since he put out High Fidelity. You can read an excerpt here.

A super awesome, super-relatable quick read that I highly recommend is Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway (recommended to me by the lovely Leslie Simon). Audrey breaks up with her musician boyfriend, he writes a song that unexpectedly skyrockets up the charts, thus making her famous. It’s about her dealing with the sudden fame, trying to have a relationship despite it and how fandom just goes wacky sometimes. Bonus: soundtrack to the book-creation!

For those of you who follow Hayley Williams on Twitter, this is where you can get the book she posted a picture of (Music Listography)

If you’re super-stoked on the upcoming release of Where The Wild Things Are, you’d probably be interested in the novel Dave Eggers created out of those nine special sentences–check it out here.

Lastly, Buzznet’s fierce and funny blogger Newageamazon has her very first chapbook on Etsy. Pick it up to show your support of DIY artistry!

What are you guys reading?

ps. Add me on goodreads!
