The band recently told NME that they aren't keen on releasing any singles from this album. Ben Goldwasser explained, "There definitely isn't a 'Time To Pretend' or a 'Kids' on the album. We've been talking about ways to make sure people hear the album as an album in order and not just figure out what are the best three tracks, download those and not listen to the rest of it."

Valentine's Day approaches, and there's nothing we'd like more than to gather all our favorite bands in a room and eat cupcakes and candy conversation hearts and get fruit punch mustaches. Unfortunately, time, distance, and a lack of teleportation restricts us a bit. To make up for it, we've asked a bunch of our fave musicians five lovely questions. First up is crushable Canadian LIGHTS.

Buzznet: Who was your first crush?

LIGHTS: Rhythm, the son of Psalty the Singing Songbook (from the sweet 90's audio cassette series). He was orange! Okay who am I kidding, it was JTT.

Buzznet: If you were in elementary school, what kind of Valentine cards would you give out to your class?

LIGHTS: I probably would have implemented my pop-up book skills into the Valentine. It would probably be a heart with a joyous looking frog that leapt out at you when you opened it, and it would say something witty like "my heart would croak without you." I would have gone all out... Some things never change.

Buzznet: What are three things you heart right now?

LIGHTS: My family, my crew and my boots.

Buzznet: What's the best love song you know?

LIGHTS: "You Are Mine" by Mutemath.

Buzznet: What celebrity would you happily be in a bromance with?

LIGHTS: I assume a female bromance would be like... chickmance? I'd happily be in chickmance with Emmylou Harris. She's a little older than me, but age doesn't matter.

After reading this Valentine's Day feature with LIGHTS, we know you heart her even more! So get your full dosage of LIGHTS on Buzznet.

Give LIGHTS a listen on iTunes. Also, be sure to check out LIGHTS on tour with Owl City! We will be at the shows photographing, did you get your tickets yet?

This Century teamed up with Buzznet to release our first voice log aka podcast. This podcast features a new song 'Lightning' and an interview with Austin Gibbs. Let us know what you think and check back every week or so for a new one!

So I've decided to start doing these Buzznet voice logs. I saw this as a chance to give a little back to our fans who have been so great to us; a new way to speak to directly to our supporters. This is something that's brand new to me, so don't expect it to blow your mind because.. well.. it won't. That's not my goal. I want you to be able to get to know me, my bandmates and my friends in other bands better.

I'll be bringing you interviews, new music suggestions submitted by listeners, This Century news and a lot of other cool stuff. I'll also be doing my best in answering as many fan letters as I can. All of this will be done on a laptop. Very simple. Very unscripted. Very real. I think I actually prefer it that way. And even though it is a very basic setup, I promise it will get better every time.

-Joel-

Here we go..hope you enjoy! Leave your comments with questions you want us to answer in the next voice log aka podcast feature!

Right now at a chilly warehouse in Echo Park, things are down to the wire on the construction of the great mouse-trap like set of "This Too Shall Pass." Inspired by the wacky contraptions built by inventor Rube Goldberg (see here), this is the music video for the recorded version of their second single. Damian Kulash gave us a careful (there were rigged up pianos and the miniscule risk of electrocution) conceptual tour of the whole shebang, which is filming on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, for State Farm.

OK Go set a high bar for themselves when it comes to music videos—they've exhibited smooth moves on treadmills for "Here It Goes Again", joined the Norte Dame marching band for the live version of "This Too Shall Pass", summoned trip-tastic visual effects for "WTF?" and—as a personally stupefying experience—played their song "What To Do" with nothing but hand bells. Right, that last one wasn't a music video, but it was really effing cool. You'd be floored at the amount of competent engineers, set designers, circus workers and artists who are involved (most as unpaid volunteers) in making this whole vision a reality. Oh, and Damian's dad was clocking hours, too.

Above: A rolling pin, party cups, Damian demonstrating and me, being very amused.

I can't effectively give you a play-by-play, because it's something you really have to see with your own eyes—but the video begins with falling dominoes which sets the entire rest of the video in motion. The video is going to be done in one continuous shot, with a steady cam. Let that sink in for a moment.

Above: Ok Go's Lego land

Part of this ambitious set up includes, but is not limited to: legos, a tetherball, a piano, balloons, a slingshot, puppets, paper airplanes, a globe, a toy crossbow, a typewriter (and some other 'dead technology'), plastic ponies, mouse traps, a figurine who you might mistake for Jesus but isn't, spoons, a car, a shopping 'trolley', fake flowers, a mannequin, an elevator, lamps, umbrellas, paint guns and of course, the band themselves. Just don't expect any menial performance shots.

Above: Damian describing the two "arcs" in the video—of small to large objects.

Designed four months ago by the band and a group of excited participants found on Mindshare (a "nerd network" Damian called it), and using mostly household items and found art, this was a vision before there was a song attached to it.

Above: Wait 'till you see this part of the video. It's so perfect.

Damian described the creative process for a music video as almost identical to making a song—the former being "more social and gregarious" than the introspective songwriting task.

In plain language, OK Go don't think music videos are about advertising or even literal interpretations. Some of the actions happen exactly on beat, and there are a couple stunts that do align with the lyrics—but that isn't the goal of the video. After the plans for this two story maze had been laid out, they gave each track on Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky an audtion, so to speak, until deciding on the most bouyant tune, "This Too Shall Pass."

Above: Andy Ross and his sister

I'm kind of nervous for them. I mean, there's no doubt in my mind that these four gentlemen are capable of whatever artistic endeavours they set their mind to, but to shoot this all in one take requires every single little moving part to perform with precision. One slightly off-kilter spoon or a less than forceful hammer blow and things will have to be re-rigged and they're all back at the beginning.

And that, my friends, is what'll make the finished product such a nonpareil.

Special thanks to the record label for inviting Buzznet out (and letting OK Go make so many videos!) and for the sweet parting gift—signed Dominoes, snacks, pics and pencil sharpeners! My eyeliner will never see another dull day.

I'll absolutely let you know when the video goes up for public viewing. I've got ants in my pants just thinking about waiting for it.

Paramore's lead guitarist is officially engaged and will be sitting out the upcoming tour, according to a recent post on the band's official LiveJournal.

hey guys,
I hope everyones doing well! I am enjoying some time off here in franklin and definitely looking forward to the superbowl! Go Saints! Hehe. I've got some news to share with you guys so here it goes..

As some of you already know, I am engaged! So, as weird as it is to stay behind, I need to take some time off to plan the wedding and everything. Because of that I will not be joining the guys on the pacific rim tour coming up. I feel really blessed to be able to take this time off, especially in the midst of this record cycle. The band has been extremely supportive and gracious to me about all of this which has made it a lot easier. Justin York, Taylor's brother, will be filling in for me as a favor. He's an awesome dude, you all will love him. Trust me, I know it's strange having someone "fill in" for me. I dont like it anymore than you guys do, but this is the most important thing in the world to me and I trust you all will understand. The Lord has blessed me with the most amazing woman and for that I am eternally grateful. I can't tell you guys how excited I am to get married! The thought of it blows my mind every day!

I will be back soon! Don't worry! :) I love you guys. Thank you so much for all of your support and love. What you guys do for me and the band is out of this world. No one has fans like us. I shall see you all very soon.

Josh F

The tour begins February 10th and includes their headlining date at Bamboozle on May 2nd. It's unclear about when he'll be jumping back on the tour (if you have info, post it in the comments).

Congrats to Josh! Good luck with the wedding planning. I can't imagine getting married at 23, but for some people--when you know, you know. I'm pretty glad they're "keeping it in the family" in essence--maybe a York brother will feel more like a natural fit, you know? Or maybe I'm just making sh*t up.
