After all the media from last week about American Idol and whether it was fixed or if Paula is coming back, I was asked by a few people to repost and recycle this blog from earlier in the year. This was written right before the beginning of last season, but I think it still relevant.

American Idol began its eighth season last week with two-hour episodes airing on both Monday and Tuesday.  That's four hours of people with severe delusions of grandeur, and completely unrealistic hopes and expectations, all rooted in a profound misunderstanding of the music industry.  All of this, plus the contestants' lack of understanding of what they have just gotten themselves into…

More news from the Hollywood Land! Paula Abdul (pictured, left) had an obsessed fan named Paula Goodspeed. The thirty-year old wannabe American Idol contestant was shot down on the show, and next thing you know, she's overdosing in front of Abdul's home.

Today is Superbowl XLII and I've been watching it off and on, but the half-time was just a few minutes ago. Paula Abdul was supposed to be singing her new song - "Dance Like There Is No Tommorrow" during it, but I guess that was canceled so instead Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers sang some of their songs..which wasn't that entertaining. I was looking forward to seeing Paula make a comeback!
