TV: Back in the Day: Burger King Kids Club Gang

Fast-food chains are, in my eyes, the kings of marketing to kids.  From the cool toys they give out to the playpens inside, I always found myself begging to go to McDonalds or Burger King as a child.

Out of all the campaigns I remember from my past, my favorite was the Burger King Kids Club Gang.

The Gang, started in 1990, was made up of a group of cartoon characters, each with a different personality, that seemed to always be hanging around Burger King.

The characters included: Boomer, I.Q., Jaws, J.D., Kid Vid, Lingo, Snaps, Wheels and Jazz.

The Gang made Burger King seem even more fun and made me want to eat there over other fast-food places..  Even though the characters weren't real, they would appear on the Kids Meal Bag that I could look at, while I drank my drink, made up of everything available in the drink fountain.

Sadly, Burger King doesn't use the Gang anymore in their commercials, but here is an old one:

haha I remember this. I miss older television. This was one of my favorite commercials too. Now the only commercials they ever show for Burger King are those ones with the creepy King dude. That thing seriously gives me the chills.

Kid Vid... man, he was so trying to be cool.
In fact, in the Burger King in New Glasgow, they still have the panel of the Gang in their display... It's a little weird.

Awesome, I needed to see thier new designs :D

I'm drawing a picture of this gang, and then I'll draw another picture but with the Doug Cast dressed as them.Probably do vis versa too :]

I definately grew up with Kid Vid and all them, of course my fav was Kid Vid, I guess he's got that flamboyant leader persona.(that we all would have liked as kids)

I went to Burger King last night and they had huge panels of them aswell, and I just kinda stared, I'd been to this burger King all my life, but now when I'm 17, They have them on the wall? are they having a come back or what? o-o I'd only tooken a year break from that place. Makes me wonder. haha.
