Cobra Starship Ex-Keytarist Elisa Jordana Elaborates to Buzznet on Solo LP Songs![]() Elisa Schwartz, former keytarist of Cobra Starship, has returned with a new look, new music and a new name — Elisa Jordana. Jordana spoke with Buzznet about her upcoming album, collaborations, and ... rapping? "One of my main motivations of this record is to make people happy and dance and forget about their problems. ... I love how music can change your mood in one second," Jordana explained about Introducing Elisa Jordana, which will be available through iTunes on June 8. Jordana also gave us some insight into a few of the 13 tracks that will be on the effort. " 'I Can't Believe He's Gone' is a song I wrote about a guy that completely f---ed me over, but in the process of that, I became a better person, and figured out exactly who I am and want to be. 'My Dark Side of the City' ... When I first moved to NY, when I was 17, I fell in with the wrong crowd. And it's easy to do that — really easy. [But] just because you once were bad or had problems doesn't mean you can't change and get over them, grow up and leave them behind. You can be beat up by all these things and move forward in a positive way." Another track, "Sweet Rosalyn," is "about a girl that fell in love with the wrong guy and he made her do something illegal, and she's now getting punished for it, and he walks away free," Jordana revealed. Perhaps the biggest surprise of all is that Jordana will be rapping on her album. She cites Lil' Kim, Salt n Pepa and LL Cool J as her rapping mentors. Speaking of rapping — Jordana has revealed to Buzznet that Lucien Walker, formerly of The Summer Obsession, will be rapping on a lot of her songs as well. So what's with the new last name? How long has Elisa Schwartz been known as Elisa Jordana? "I've been Elisa Jordana in my head, my whole life, but to you and everyone out there, since last summer when Cobra replaced me and there was someone new. I wrote some crazy songs about that," Jordana explained. Another turning point came when she began receiving calls from industry people who were interested in working with her. Jordana expressed her joy in finally being able to be involved in the recording and co-producing process of her music. MTV News reported that Victoria Asher, Jordana's replacement in Cobra Starship, reached out to Jordana via MySpace to tell her that she was a fan of Jordana's music. How did Jordana reply to the message? "Wow, that made me feel great to hear you like my music. The song I wrote that she liked I was gonna offer to her to sing but I didn't because I know she writes her own songs. I was really happy she wrote to me, and now that song is gonna be on an actual album, so I cant give it to anyone," laughed Jordana. Jordana has remained very involved with her fans throughout the writing process. She even sends her demos to fans for their approval and cans songs if they are not well-received. Jordana has a message to her fans about what to wear when Jordana plays a show in their town: "When I go on tour I would like the whole audience to wear pink and my manager is getting me a necklace that has the initials EJ on it so hopefully they will wear that too." The Internet is filled with rumors including those about Jordana. Buzznet gave her a moment to speak out on the harsh things floating around about her: "Maybe the whole thing about being a slut. I really didn't like that. I wrote a cute little song called 'Young Love,' and all these people were like, 'Slut, slut,' and I really don't think I am. I haven't had a boyfriend or hooked up with anyone in literally two years." Are you excited for Introducing Elisa Jordana? Discuss in the comments below!
