On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of the United States of America. And while we're certainly not naive enough to think everything in the whole world will change on the morning of January 21, we certainly think there's reason to have an internet party: because Barack Obama is going to be sworn in as our next President. OMGWTFBBQ.

In true Buzznet liveblog fashion, Inauguration Day will be full of macros, some ALL CAPS, and a general sense of glee and insanity. This may be the first liveblog we've done that isn't full of pure anger, so cut us some slack. We are treading new ground, expanding horizons, pushing forward in the digital landscape!

LIVEBLOGGING HAS BEGUN.

8:00am: I woke up half an hour ago to my cats going, "MEOW, MEOW, MEOW? MEOW. MEOWWWWWWWW MEOW!" While I'd like to think they, too, were celebrating the day George Dubya left office, I think it's more realistic to assume they are just self-centered assholes who want to be "fed" on time. Bah.

I just read that coverage on CNN started at 4am this morning. I would loved to have provided you guys with that kind of liveblogging intensity, but the truth of the matter is that, eventually, I need to sleep. Sleep > Barack Obama. Sorry, hippies.

8:33am: I am trying to get ready and trying to judge if I have enough time to ride to work before Obama's swearing in starts so I don't botch it and miss it. Also, I'm eating a bowl of Captain Crunch WITH Crunch Berries. I am so American today.

8:36am: Bahahahahahahah Bush is being forced to take the WALK OF SHAME. Oh, Bushy, today totally sucks for you and I hope you disappear off the planet forever.

8:39am: Obama just came out all dignified and the first thought that popped into my head: "Damn, what a fox!" I then quickly proceeded to punch myself in the face for objectifying OUR NEW PRESIDENT HOLY GOD GUYS. HE IS OUR NEW PRESIDENT. Obama, please do NOT fuck this up.

8:46am: Oh damn, it's starting. Hi Diane Feinstein!

8:48am: Ew gross. That scumbag Rick Warren is on stage. I hope a shower of gay penises falls on top of that asshole right at this moment. So disappointing to see him here.

8:52am: WHAT THE FUCK. Did you just hear Rick Warren pronounce Obama's kids' names? Does he think he's announcing a stripper? God, what a douche.

8:54am: God, Aretha Franklin looks SO FABULOUS. Look at that hat. LOOK AT IT. Also....I thought she had died already. :( :( :( :(

8:57am: Oh man, Biden is being sworn in. GOOD BYE DICK CHENEY. Also, I hope Biden says, 'FUCK' during the next 30 seconds.

8:59am: Um. Who is yelling at Obama? Also, who invited Yo-Yo Ma? NOW THE PARTY IS STARTING!

9:02am: What is this song? This shit is INTENSE. God bless you, John Williams.

9:05am: Oh my god, this is so adorable. Obama is ready to BE PRESIDENT!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

9:07am: I'm going to echo the sentiments of Masha3000 in the comments. GUYS, THIS IS REAL. LOOK AT OUR PRESIDENT.

9:10am: The camera just panned out from the stage.....good lord, there are SO MANY PEOPLE THERE.

9:13am: Ok, regardless of what you think of this man......dudes. He can give a fine speech.

10:56am: Ok, the second I shut down my computer, FOX News went insane. They asked Reagan's inaugural speech writer what he thought of Obama's speech and he said it was, "Just ok" and that there wasn't anything in it that would be "remembered." Awesome. Then they started talking about jihads against America and I had to turn that garbage off.

Anyway, give me a few minutes to get caught up in whatever's going on in Obama world and the updates will keep coming.
