Scream Awards 2008: General Round UpSo, The 2008 Scream Awards Show actually took place Saturday night, but the telecast aired last night on Spike TV. If you didn't get a chance to see it or if my liveblog just ain't doing it for you? Here's a handy little guide to what you should try to catch on the replay. Or Youtube. Whatever.
![]() Highlights of the telecast: An amazing and creepy performance by Kerli. A full out rock performance by The Smashing Pumpkins. Preview of the Ballet Studio Scene from Twilight, which was introduced by Cam Gigandet. Preview of the new Friday the 13th film, introduced by stars Jared Padalecki and Danielle Panabaker. Gerard Way proudly stood in front of the Owlship (I am sorry for the fuzzy video, I am trying to track down actual photos/screenshots!) in order to introduce Zack Snyder, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman and Carla Gugino... ...who then proceeded to introduce world premier footage from Watchmen. Holy crap, guys. If you want more of GWay's activity, check out kindofadraag's awesome Gerard Way round up. Sadly, this means that she rounded up all the Buzznet coverage of his appearance, including her awesome exclusive interview. Not that she hog tied him and set him to a fellow Buzznetter. >:( The List of Winners from the Telecast: Best Fantasy Movie: Hellboy 2: The Golden Army Best Comic Book: Y: The Last Man Best TV Show: Dexter Best Remake: Halloween (not presented live, this was announced when Rob Zombie came out to present) Best Science Fiction Female: Milla Jovovich for Resident Evil: Extinction Best Supporting Performance: Gary Oldman for The Dark Knight Best Science Fiction Movie: Iron Man Most Memorable Mutilation: Penis bitten off by vagina with teeth, from Teeth Best Director: Christopher Nolan for The Dark Knight Best Screenplay: Christopher and Jonathan Nolan for The Dark Knight Best Horror Actress: Liv Tyler for The Strangers The Ultimate Scream: The Dark Knight. Also presented were several special "Lifetime Achievement" awards Scream Legend: Sir Anthony Hopkins Scream Immortal Award: Tim Burton Mastermind Award: Wes Craven Comic Con Icon Award: George Lucas (the first non-comic artist in history to receive this award) Gary Oldman also announced that both Best Villain and Best Fantasy Actor were being awarded to the late Heath Ledger for his portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight. He accepted the awards on behalf of Ledger's family. All in all, Dark Knight rocked the world, they showed footage of a dog eating a fake penis, and I came up with a plot for the next Saw movie. Not a bad Tuesday night, huh?
