Travis McCoy Arrest Confirmed; Community Round-upIt's been confirmed by Rolling Stone that Gym Class Heroes frontman, Travis McCoy, was indeed arrested following yesterday's assault on a heckler who used a racist slur against him. The news of the Warped Tour incident hit our community hard; how did Buzznet react?
![]() Photo courtesy of Buzznet member LizRotten. Rolling Stone is reporting that after McCoy finished the set, he was arrested onstage. He was released early this morning on a $500 bond, charged with one count of third-degree assault. There still hasn't been any statements released from the Gym Class Heroes camp. We'll keep you updated. Additionally, video of the actual incident has found it's way on YouTube, but we have to warn you that the footage sounds as if the Cloverfield monster attacked the Warped Tour: Our own community was just as reactive as McCoy; in just the few comments, we had to deal with our own racist and the incident caused people to examine how they felt about such language: ![]() Indeed it was. ![]() ![]() KasperObscene makes an excellent point about the rudeness of hecklers in general: ![]() Even further, JurassicJack said that the word simply shouldn't be used at all and subscribed a fitting punishment: ![]() I'd like to open the conversation to everyone, even those Buzznet members who don't even know who this band is. Do you feel Travis McCoy was justified in his actions? Do you also think that the word that the heckler used should still be acceptable to use? Was anyone "right" in the situation or is there a giant gray area? We promise to keep you updated; please check out our Warped Tour Blog for ongoing coverage of the entire Warped Tour. UPDATE: Gym Class Heroes' manager has made a statement regarding the incident, which can be found on the front page of FriendsOrEnemies.com

i think the person who made that ignorant comment should have gotten banned from the concert :)
and as for the word itself, it needs to just not be used at all, ever, in such a context. even if this guy is black or biracial himself, it's not the kind of word you should throw around. i recognise that as a white kid, it is not my place to police how people of colour are and aren't allowed to use that word, but it is my opinion that it is such a loaded word that it should not be used in this way at all. so just for that word alone, travis had every right to be as pissed off as he was.
It's unfortunate that really you can't stop people from saying it. You can put whatever law on it people will still say it. It's illegal to murder somone and rob a bank but people still do it. Something should be done though, definetly, at least to get some sort of justice.
It is kind of a gray area because even if they do use the word what can you actually do about it apart from batter them with a mic stand? But then the attacker gets into trouble for it.....
I can't blame Travie.
Guy (heckler) needs to shut his big fat mouth.
