Um, if I had any respect for that band, I would have lost it. I don't mind that people curse on stage because, hell, i do it all the time. But they way that he read that letter out was just plain rude. It sounded likehe was trying to impress. I get that they are a band that doesn't take things seriously, but I think they should also be setting some sort of example. As for the vulgar things they say on stage, man. People dislike the Millionaires and Brokencyde for having disgusting lyrics etc, yet worship All Time Low. UGH. There are many things I could say about All Time Low, but my fingers would get tired trying to type it all.

Considering how the last ATL show I went to involved them telling a bunch of teenage girls to "get wet and naked" for them? I think they really need to reconsider what they say on stage. Vulgarity is one thing, bands like Cobra Starship, Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance certainly drop their fair share of f-bombs onstage, but while I have heard them say the audience is good looking or full of sexy people they have not basically propositioned the girls watching them, even in jest. There's a very fine line, but ATL manage to cross it. I know they're young and famous, but that doesn't mean you need to be disgusting onstage.

meh, i don't think this is all too bad. i mean, dall made a millionaires reference, but atl is making actual music with meaningful lyrics. It's a little different. Also, the cussing, vulgarity, it's bound to happen at any show and I think that the little things he's saying during the letter are, although innopropriate, true b/c most of it sounds like bull.

Congratulations Alex Gaskarth for making it painfully obvious to everyone that you try incredibly hard.

I think this is hilarious and parents need to quit bitching. There kids are probably just as bad when they aren't around them and ATL never said they wanted to be your kids role models.
Some people just need to get their panties out of a bunch and relax.

I know, i'm probably going to get virtually-beat down for saying this, but it's just my opinion and always has been for any band.
All Time Low's music typically attracts the younger-tween crowd (speaking from every ATL show i've been to and everything said on the internet). I'm not sure why, maybe it's because of the "looks". But the older crowd is also attracted to their music, such as myself and my best friend.
We've been to enough All Time Low shows to know what this 'parent', the letter-writer, is talking about.
ATL, mostly Jack and Alex, pretty much joke nx while on stage, when they're not playing a song.
And yes, the f-bomb slips quite frequently, especially from Alex.
They are very vulgar, surprisingly vulgar sometimes, i'll admit that. They say things that, even with me being used to them acting that way, kind of shock me in a way.

While I completely agree with some comments already on here, about Alex going a little overboard about the whole situation, I disagree a little more.
And no, it's not just because i'm a fan of the band. Say if it was Fall Out Boy (who I despise), I would still say the same thing. It goes for any band.

All of them are very young, the "party age", if you will. And they're going to do and say things that most people would consider out of line.
They're just going to. Why? Because they have FUN with it.
They don't do it to offend anyone, they don't do it to INTENTIONALLY piss someone off. They just do it because they know they're going to get a crazy response from the crowd usually consisting of 12-13 year old girls who will scream like crazy at anything they say, ESPECIALLY if it involves the f-bomb, or something like the parent was talking about (Alex saying something about a crew member performing oral sex on him). From my experience, for some reason, the crowd goes absolutely crazy when something like that is said.
And, that's why they do it. Plain and simple.
When they're on stage, they don't really think about it much, I can almost guarantee you that.
They're up there hoping to make the next hour or so an extremely good time for the kids who've been waiting to see them forever.

My point is, if you don't want to be exposed to this (or if you're a parent and don't want your kid who is probably there because she just loves the lead singer's hair exposed to it), don't go to the show. It is that simple.
If you think it's that offensive to your child, and possibly to yourself, then DON'T LET THEM GO.
The band is aware that there are many, many younger people at their shows. But they also know that a lot of kids their age are there too. Now, them being the age that they are, WHO do you think they're going to cater to as far as in-between-songs improv goes? The people who are, or are around THEIR age. It's much easier than having to censor every single thing you say because there are a lot of 12 year olds in the crowd whose parents are going to complain to your managers.
I know it seems like i'm speaking from a biased POV. But that is just my opinion. If you don't like it (their language), don't go, or at least don't complain about it.
I applaud this parent for obviously being so concerned about his kid, but seriously. Don't write the band's management and tell them things like that in hopes of the band not doing it anymore.
They're still going to do it. And while on that, making a joke out of it probably wasn't the best thing to do. But as I said, they are pretty much all jokers. They were trying to lighten the mood about it and not make it into a big deal. They wanted to make it funny.

And I agree with SydneyAlex as well; someone compared them to Millionaires as far as the vulgarity goes. Yeah, you know why Millionaires get so much heat for that, and not ATL?
Because while Millionaires are out there writing about partying/drinking/"getting laid", ATL, in most people's opinion, write meaningful songs that could potentially help someone feel as if they relate to them during a hard time in their life. Yes, i'm aware that some of ATL's songs involve hanging out and having a good time, but it's not the whole album. Most of the album is just good chill-out music, that's even parent-worry free.

But back on subject, vulgarity, like Sydney said, is bound to happen at any show. So while you're on your computer writing to ATL's management about how you're appalled at their actions/what they do on stage, why don't you write basically every other current band's management and tell them as well.
They all do it.
If you don't like it, DON'T go to a show. Simple.

I thought this was quite funny and I give a bajillion props to Alex. I see parents go to shows with their kids all the time, some to enjoy for themselves and some to stalk their children (I mean this is in the most literal sense.) the stalker parents annoy me because they stand there in the crowd with this stink face and give their kids a mean look down when move even in the slightest.

They should put this at the doors of every venue, it would do us all a favor:

"Parents: If you don't like the music, or the people; don't attend the show. Or, if you cant get around it, ear plugs are usually available at bag check. Besides that, keep your opinions to yourself and let the musicians express themselves how they wish."

WHAT?! all time low is fuckin awesome and the dad is frickin complainin how VULGAR they are?! i mean come on! this isn't the frickin first century is it?! i mean yeah they curse a lot but seriously? i am pretty every band can curse once in a while. sheesh! XP

I don't think there is any problems. When you plan on seeing a band you should know what you're getting into. ESPECIALLY when your parent is coming along. Plus, did the parent not listen to any of the music? My dad makes me play a band's songs to him and he evaluates the band (He will never let me go to a A7X concert) and he was okay with the Academy Is... and even ATL.

Another thing is that today's teen generations are exposed to so much - through friends and of course the www! Publics school are worse than little 'ol ATL and full of vulgar and obscene language as a daily thing.

Didn't this same thing happen with Fall Out Boy? Although I don't think Pete Wentz read the letter aloud on stage. He just said he recieved a letter, uttered a few choice quotes, the end.

Also, I hope this parent's child doesn't go to public school.

I personally don't mind the way ATL acts on stage, granted I'm also 18. Though their actions don't bother me, I think it's completely understandable for parents to a little upset. The parents obviously understand that there are going to be cuss words at every concert, so I don't think it was the "casual fuck" word that made them so angry. I'm sure all of the constant sex talk was uncomfortable for the parents because I'm sure they don't want their younger kids hearing about that.

I also find it kind of rude for Alex to be reading a personal letter out loud to the crowd, and on top of that mocking the whole thing. It was intended for the band/managers to only see it, not a crowd of crazy teens.

Again I still find ATL's humor to be hilarious, and it's something that I kind of look forward to every show because of how funny it is, but I can still completely understand why parents wouldn't be happy about it.

I also would like to say that here's how they should've handled it:
By not making it that big of a deal.
